Profile: Michael Reiniche

By Asher Blocker

We spoke with Michael Reiniche of Strong Tower Funding about his business and how he copes with today's difficult economic climate.

Michael Reiniche owns Strong Tower Funding and believes that if you "Do right by people," the rest is just details.

NS: What does your company do? And how did you get into this industry?

MR: Well, my company finds financing for people looking to lower their monthly payment on their existing loan or looking to purchase new on another home.

I was looking for a better opportunity than my current employment provided when I found the mortgage industry. You see, I wanted to do something people oriented and financial based. And I also didn't just want to sit behind a desk all day. I had a friend who owned his own mortgage business that had been trying to hire me for 2 years. The only thing I was apprehensive about was the 100% commission pay structure. Well 4+ years later and I am really happy I made the move!

NS: What is your philosophy on business?

MR: Do right by people! The rest is just details. I know in dealing with other company's if I feel like they sincerely care about my wants and needs it goes a long way. It's about the people. Love what you do and treat people right and the rest will work itself out.

NS: What trait do you (or your business) have that separates you from others, or that will make you a long-term success?

MR: I welcome obstacles, I know they're going to be there and I look forward overcoming them. When times get tough I get focused. I like dealing with things most people dislike. And at the end of the day I feel like I have achieved things for people that someone else wouldn't have done. One of the toughest things about this sometimes, a lot of the time, is the client doesn't even know the lengths you overcame to get the deal done. But, whether they know or not I know I just accomplished something...

NS: What ways have you found to deal with the economic downturn?

MR: Deal with it? I'm actually laying in bed typing on my laptop and haven't shaved for 2 months. Seriously though, I think now is the perfect time to develop relationships and really build a solid foundation in your local business. Everybody is going through the same thing, so people are more open to hearing your story, your beliefs and how you can help them.

NS: Tell us something we don't know about you.

MR: I love to compete; I love a challenge, so I will welcome most hobbies and really have an appreciation for the outdoors. I have 2 beautiful girls and a beautiful wife, they are my "why" and I wouldn't be half the man today if it weren't for them.

NS: Your most loved sports team? Why?

MR: I love the Celtic's, I have loved them from when I was 3. I love what they stood for and what they now stand for. There team work, chemistry and toughness are attributes I admire. I'm hoping the Gamecocks can catch a bit of Boston's success If only we could get rid of our "Smelly" quarterback.

NS: Most hated sports team? Why?

MR: Yankees, do I need to say anymore. They stand for what is wrong with America today. Instant gratification, they need to win today and will buy and sell players like hot cakes. There is no long term plan there is no planting of seeds. They buy 35 year old trees and hope planting them in new soil will work. Sorry, I get pretty passionate about this stuff, like I do with all I do.
